ST ANDREWS EAST SHORE,
Pittenweem
Pittenweem, is located in area known as the East Neuk o' Fife which is a group of several old small fishing villages. It is connected to the next town by a golf course along the beachfront. Five miles away is Crail with the seventh oldest golf course in the world. Visitors are especially welcomed. Some feel that the small towns of Scotland remind many Americans of what their country looked like in the 1950's. Babies are still left in their carriages out side the stores. The village has 2,000 inhabitants. Golf is everywhere; dozens of courses are within easy driving distance. Walking along the shore to the next town is special. A trip to Edinburgh is a must; most take the train. The city is absolutely beautiful...Edinburgh Castle, shopping on Princess Street, visit Britannia, the Queens recently retired yacht. See Holyrood Palace where the Queen stays when in the city. Perth and Pitlochary are the center of the Highlands and are near by. Visit May Island (almost in front of the house) and see Scotland's oldest light house and the Puffin Colony during the summer. Travel the Whisky Trail. Don't miss the distillery in Crief. Two of Scotland's best restaurants are with 12 miles of Pittenweem. Go to St. Andrews (10 miles away) visit the Cathedral Ruins, stop by the Old Course Hotel; shop for woolens. It is a beautiful university town and an equally beautiful opportunity to play golf on some of the best and oldest courses in the world. The three-story home was built about 320 years ago, named St. Andrews. The 2 downstairs bedrooms have twin beds and private baths. The master bedroom occupies the third floor; it is quite spacious and its bath has both a new shower and a century old cast iron tub. The house comes with all new appliances including washer, dryer, dish washer, a full kitchen, even down to a garlic press, cutlery and those things to make cooking more enjoyable. It overlooks the North Sea Fishing Fleet in the old town of Pittenweem where the catch is off loaded daily. The views across the Firth of Forth are spectacular.
