FINAVON CASTLE, Angus
Location: near Forfar

Finavon Castle Photos

A wooded drive winds to a yard surrounded by grass and flowering shrubs. Stately redwoods as old as the castle itself stand guard. The smooth stone walkway echoes with footsteps a hundred years old. They guide you to Flat Number 7 at Finavon Castle.

This beautifully appointed corner flat provides the feeling of being at home for up to six people, with privacy and a gorgeous view. From the spacious modern kitchen you can gaze up a graceful hill toward the ruins of an Iron Age Pictish fort. Walk from the combined living/dining room through French doors to a small terrace. A large private yard is edged with a beautiful flower garden. Beyond is a common lawn and picnic area, shared with the permanent residents of the six other flats in this large castle.

Finavon Castle was built in 1856 near the small city of Forfar in Angus. Nearby woods hold ruins of the original 14th century castle -- stronghold of the Earls of Crawford. The history of this land is held in the peaceful glens and ancient stones that are within easy walking and driving distance. A beautiful Scotland holiday awaits you at Finavon.
