EAST MAINS COTTAGE, Ayrshire
Location: Dalrymple

East Mains Cottage Photos

This charming, white-washed, rose-covered cottage is the heart of simplicity within old-world surroundings. Part of the beautiful 850-acre Skeldon Estate, East Mains rests in a picturesque traditional courtyard, complete with a horse stable. Quaint and comfortable, the cottage accommodates six with a fireplace in the living room and a separate dining room.

Located at the edge of the village of Dalrymple, six miles from Ayr and the southwest coast of Scotland, Skeldon is one of the few estates in Scotland still being run as it was originally designed. Farming, gamekeeping, forestry, gardening and fishing departments are kept in perfect working order by the house and grounds staff who live on the estate. You can arrange a personal tour or wander in the formal gardens and greenhouses on your own. On a clear day you can see the peaks of the Isle of Arran over nearby fields.

While at East Mains you have your choice of retreat or recreation. The ideal vacation for the adventurous angler, Skeldon Estate offers one of the premier fishing beats on the River Doon. For a change of pace, sea and loch fishing are also available. In addition, horseback riding, tennis, golfing, shooting, stalking, clay pigeon shooting and even a course on gardening can be arranged.
