CEOL-NA-MARA, Isle of Skye
Location: Sleat Peninsula

Ceòl-na-Mara Photos

Ceòl-na-Mara (kee-all nah mahra) lives up to the romance of its Gaelic name -- literally "music of the sea." This comfortable bungalow rests at the edge of the Sound of Sleat on the Isle of Skye. Enchanting views across the water to Loch Nevis and the hills of Knoydart entice you at every window. The house overlooks the ruins of Knock Castle less than a quarter of a mile away.

Located in a sheltered corner of the island, this area is known as the Garden of Skye. Its lush rolling hills, abundance of wildflowers and majestic trees contrast sharply to the more rugged and mountainous parts of Skye.

The house is set off a quiet country road and sleeps six. The front is covered with rose trellises. A charming garden surrounds the house with blooms. The simple lines of a contemporary interior highlight picture windows with magnificent views of the ocean, castle ruins and surrounding countryside.

Enjoy a stroll to a deserted beach directly below the house. Watch the castle ruins rise from morning mists. Catch one of the stunning rainbows arching toward the mountains. See the beauty of a moonrise over the sound.

At Ceòl-na-Mara, you can fully experience the "music of the sea."
