Exceptional scenery, stunning views and comfortable accommodation all combine to make you holiday in Applecross an unforgettable experience. There is much interest on the Estate including one of the oldest pedigree herds of Highland Cattle in Scotland. Although Fear Turuis of Glengorm, the herd’s stock bull pictured here, looks distinctly bored with photographic modelling you will meet him grazing on the Estate with his wives and their calves during your holiday. Wildlife, red deer, seals, various hill and coastal birds can all be seen. Estate staff will be pleased to direct you to various short and long walks. Stalking may be available in season but, in conjunction with an ecology project, the river is undergoing a restocking programme so no salmon rods are available at present. Hill loch fishing for trout is available at £5.00 per rod per day. Although reaching some lochs requires a considerable walk, you should be rewarded with small, but tasty, wild trout. No lochs are stocked. A Victorian Walled Garden is undergoing restoration providing an interesting focus for keen gardeners. There is fresh organic produce for sale with an increasing variety of flowers and plants becoming available. Locally, there is an excellent hotel restaurant, inn, shop / Post Office,
which also supplies petrol and diesel. There are several churches and
doctor’s surgery. The campsite bakery provides fresh bread and rolls
daily.
