Salleles d'Aude

Village House with Rooftop Terrace
Sleeps: 6 max. (preferable for 4)
Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms: 1

This house is nestled in the heart of the village Salleles d'Aude, just one minutes walk from the famous Canal du Midi. The house has the typical rustic architecture of the region and is tastefully furnished. Located between Narbonne, Beziers & Montpellier the village of Salleles borders the famous Canal du Midi built under Louis XIV during the 17th Century (see the web site www.CanalduMidi.com for more information on the canal and surrounds). Additionally, the village is only a 20-30 minute from the lovely Mediterranee Sea.

This charming home can sleep six people but is more comfortable for 4 people as there is only one bathroom. Situated on the ground floor is the kitchen and the living room. The fully equipped eat-in kitchen has a 4 burner stove, regualr oven, microwave oven and diswasher. There is also a clothes washing machine and drying line (no dryer) as well as central heating.. The house has stereo system including a radio, tape deck and CD player. On the first floor (up 1 flight of stairs) there are two bedrooms; each room furnished with a double bed. The bathroom is also situated on this floor. On the 2nd floor there is a bedroom with two twin beds and a little roof top terrace.

In the Village of Salleles d'Aude:

- All sort of small stores including: several boulangeries, convenience store, charcuterie, pharmacy, doctor, post office, restaurants and bank with ATM. Everything is within walking distance.
- Beautiful tennis courts that you can rent by the hour at the Mairie of Salleles.
- Bike rentals. There is excellent and peaceful biking along the Canal and on the small country roads, most of the time protected by the shade of the beautiful "Platanes" trees that you find all over the South of France. It is possible to ride to Narbonne (the nearest town) and further to the seaside, just biking along the canal, passing through vineyards and further the "etangs" (salted lakes) reminder of the time where the sea was covering this land and Narbonne used to be a Roman port. There is also mountain biking into all the surrounding hills and mountains.
- Several little museums including a pottery museum from the antiquity and several other sites to visit. Information available.
- Finally, like in all the villages of the "Midi" , you can try a game of Petanque with the men of the village. Better to watch first... Or you can go fishing along the Canal or the Aude and the Cesse rivers that are also running just outside the village, surrounded by vineyards and offering nice walks or bike riding.
